Letybo vs. Botox: What's the Difference?

Letybo vs. Botox: Two FDA-approved wrinkle-relaxing treatments available at VIBEology Medspa near Prosper and Frisco, TX.

If you've been looking into Botox in Prosper, Frisco or North Dallas lately, you may have started seeing another name pop up: Letybo.

And naturally, that brings up a lot of questions.

What exactly is Letybo? Is it like Botox? Is Letybo FDA-approved? Why might one cost less than the other? And most importantly—how do you know which neurotoxin is right for you?

At Vibeology Medspa in Prosper, Texas, these are questions we hear frequently. So we're breaking down the differences between Letybo and Botox in simple terms.

First: What Is a Neurotoxin?

Botox and Letybo are both injectable neuromodulators, commonly called "tox" or neurotoxin treatments.

They work by temporarily reducing the muscle activity responsible for certain expression lines.

Think about the lines that appear when you:

  • Frown between your eyebrows

  • Raise your eyebrows

  • Squint or smile

  • Scrunch your nose

Over time, repeatedly making these expressions can contribute to lines that become visible even when your face is at rest.

A neurotoxin treatment strategically relaxes selected muscles to soften the appearance of these lines while still allowing your face to look like you.

The goal at Vibeology isn't necessarily to make your face completely motionless. Treatment can be customized based on your anatomy, muscle strength, concerns and the result you're hoping to achieve.

What Is Botox?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most recognizable cosmetic neurotoxin brand in the United States.

Its active ingredient is onabotulinumtoxinA, a form of botulinum toxin type A.

Because Botox has been used in aesthetic medicine for many years, many patients use "Botox" as a catch-all term for neurotoxin injections—even though there are now several different products available.

BOTOX Cosmetic has FDA-approved cosmetic indications including treatment of certain forehead lines, glabellar or "11" lines, crow's feet and platysma bands.

What Is Letybo?

LEТYBO® is another botulinum toxin type A injectable. Its active ingredient is letibotulinumtoxinA-wlbg.

Letybo may sound new to many American patients, but it comes from South Korea's aesthetics market and received FDA approval in the United States in 2024.

Its current FDA-approved cosmetic indication is the temporary improvement of moderate-to-severe glabellar lines—the vertical "11" lines between the eyebrows—in adults.

For patients who enjoy learning about Korean aesthetics and newer treatment options entering the U.S. market, Letybo has understandably generated a lot of interest.

Letybo vs. Botox: Are They Basically the Same Thing?

They belong to the same general category and share the same basic goal: temporarily decreasing selected muscle activity to soften dynamic wrinkles.

But they are different pharmaceutical products.

That distinction matters.

Each neurotoxin has its own formulation, manufacturing process, clinical data and dosing specifications. The potency units used for one botulinum toxin product should not automatically be considered equivalent or converted directly to the units of another.

That's one reason your treatment plan should be determined by an experienced medical provider rather than simply choosing a predetermined number of units online.

Letybo vs. Botox Results

For most patients, the bigger question isn't the name on the vial.

It's: "Am I going to look natural?"

A well-planned neurotoxin treatment should complement your face rather than make you look like someone else.

Depending on your treatment plan, patients may be looking to:

  • Soften frown lines

  • Reduce forehead wrinkles

  • Soften crow's feet

  • Create a more refreshed appearance

  • Prevent repetitive facial movement from deepening certain expression lines

Your results depend on several factors, including your anatomy, muscle strength, treatment area, dose and how your individual body responds.

No two faces should automatically receive exactly the same treatment plan.

How Long Does Letybo Last Compared With Botox?

Neurotoxin results are temporary.

How long someone's treatment lasts can vary considerably from person to person based on factors such as muscle strength, metabolism, dose, treatment area and individual response.

Rather than promising an exact number of months, we prefer to evaluate how your body responds and build your future treatment schedule around that.

Patients who have used one neurotoxin previously may also find that they prefer the experience or results of another product.

That's completely normal.

How Quickly Will I See Results?

Botulinum toxin treatments do not typically produce their complete cosmetic effect immediately after injection.

Changes generally develop gradually over the following days.

Your provider can explain what timeline to expect based on the product used and the areas treated.

Is Letybo Cheaper Than Botox?

At Vibeology Medspa, we want patients to have options at different price points.

Our current pricing is:

Letybo: $7 per unit

Botox: $12 per unit

However, comparing the price of an individual unit doesn't necessarily tell you what an entire treatment will cost.

Botulinum toxin products have product-specific dosing, and the amount appropriate for you depends on your anatomy, muscle activity and treatment goals.

That's why we recommend looking at your complete treatment plan and expected cost, rather than choosing a neurotoxin based solely on its advertised per-unit price.

During your consultation, we'll discuss your options before treatment so you know what is being recommended and why.

Does Less Expensive Mean Lower Quality?

Not necessarily.

Price can be affected by branding, manufacturer pricing, practice pricing strategy and other factors.

A better question to ask is:

Is this an authentic product being administered by a qualified medical professional who understands facial anatomy?

When considering injectable treatments, choosing your provider is just as important as choosing the product.

At Vibeology Medspa, treatments are performed under the care of Sharon Suh, FNP, a board-certified nurse practitioner with more than a decade of nursing experience and a background that includes family practice and emergency medicine.

Sharon has also continued her aesthetic education through training in both the United States and South Korea, allowing her to combine medical experience with techniques and perspectives influenced by the Korean aesthetics and skincare industry.

Can Letybo Be Used Anywhere Botox Is Used?

This is where it's important to understand the difference between FDA-approved indications and off-label medical use.

Letybo's current FDA-approved cosmetic indication in the United States is for glabellar—or "11"—lines.

Qualified medical providers may use medications off-label when clinically appropriate. Off-label treatment means a medication is being used in an area, dose or manner that is not specifically included in its FDA-approved labeling.

Your provider should discuss the treatment with you and determine whether it is appropriate for your individual situation.

What Areas Can Neurotoxins Treat?

Depending on the product, patient and provider's clinical judgment, neurotoxins may be considered for concerns involving areas such as:

  • Frown or "11" lines

  • Forehead lines

  • Crow's feet

  • Bunny lines around the nose

  • Brow positioning

  • Lip flip treatments

  • Chin dimpling

  • Downturned corners of the mouth

  • Masseter muscles

  • Certain neck concerns

Some of these uses may be considered off-label, depending on the specific product being administered.

This is another reason an in-person facial assessment matters.

A treatment that looks great on one person's anatomy may not be the right approach for another.

Choosing between Botox and Letybo depends on your facial anatomy, treatment goals, and preferences. At VIBEology Medspa near Prosper and Frisco, TX, each treatment plan is personalized to the individual.

Letybo vs. Botox: Which One Should I Choose?

There isn't one neurotoxin that is automatically the best choice for every person.

Botox may appeal to someone who prefers an established, highly recognizable brand.

Letybo may appeal to someone interested in another FDA-approved botulinum toxin option or in exploring a product with roots in the Korean aesthetics market.

Some patients may have a strong preference.

Others simply want their provider to recommend what makes the most sense.

Both approaches are completely reasonable.

During a consultation at Vibeology, Sharon can assess your facial movement, discuss your previous injectable experience and talk through the look you're hoping to achieve before recommending a treatment plan.

"I Don't Want to Look Frozen."

We hear this one all the time. And we understand it.

Many patients aren't trying to eliminate every line from their face.

They simply want to look:

More rested. More refreshed. A little softer. Still completely like themselves.

Neurotoxin treatments can be customized with that goal in mind.

The technique, placement and treatment plan matter tremendously.

Our philosophy at Vibeology is centered around enhancing your natural features rather than chasing an artificial or overdone result.

Yes. Letybo received FDA approval in the United States in 2024. Its FDA-approved cosmetic indication is temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate-to-severe glabellar lines in adults.

Is Letybo the same as Botox?

No. Both are botulinum toxin type A products used to temporarily reduce targeted muscle activity, but they are separate products with different formulations and dosing specifications.

Is Letybo Korean Botox?

You'll sometimes see Letybo informally described this way because of its South Korean origins, but Letybo is its own brand and pharmaceutical product. "Botox" is the trademarked name of a different medication.

At Vibeology Medspa, our current price is $7 per unit for Letybo and $12 per unit for Botox. Your total treatment cost depends on the product, treatment area, recommended dosing and your individual anatomy.

How do I know how many units I need?

There isn't one number that's appropriate for everyone. Your provider considers your muscle strength, facial anatomy, movement patterns, treatment areas and desired result before recommending treatment.

Can I switch from Botox to Letybo?

Patients interested in trying a different neurotoxin can discuss their previous treatments, results and goals with their medical provider. Your provider can determine which available option may be appropriate for you.
